No poo, day 1

So I’ve been thinking of my last post and that I really need to find a natural way to wash my hair.  I had been shampoo free for 9 months, when I decided that I was tired of my hair looking drab. My hair had no shine. It had alot of body and I no longer had to use gel in my hair or any hairstyling aids. Well, I haven’t stopped using hairspray. I cannot be without that! So, I got to thinking about going back to no poo.  I recently have been using a shampoo bar, but my hair is so flat! Don’t get me wrong, this bar is good. I don’t want to use sodium lauryl sulfate, if I don’t have to! So many people out here in the internet world have tried no poo at all. I’ve tried the baking soda deal and that didn’t work for me, besides give me dry, straw like hair! I’ve always been in love with hair. Somebody walks into a room and the first thing I notice is HAIR. I absolutely love hair. So my hair better look good, that’s all I’ve got to say. HAHA! So I have decided to go back to the no poo method.

day 1

Today I washed my hair with my dog’s homemade shampoo, lol. Yes, I said my dog’s shampoo. It worked great! No grease, my hair is soft and not hard to put a comb through. So I will keep this going and post my progress. Here is the recipe if anybody is interested. ½ cup apple cider vinegar and ½ cup castile soap and that is it.

  1. I’ve been poo free for over a year now and I’m still loving it! Something that nobody told me was that you have to deep condition your hair on a regular basis. Avocado, henna hair dye, and coconut oil are all good for this (: I stick with baking soda and apple cider vinegar, and haven’t been able to stop touching my hair since I dyed it with henna XD Good luck to you on your no poo journey!

    • Thank you for the advice. I already use henna to color my hair, (actually just did a few hours ago, lol) I will try conditioning more often with coconut oil. That may be a major improvement to my dry, drab hair.
